In an ageing society that is ironically obsessed with youth, we Second Halfers have no intention of fading away. This is our time to shine. We are healthy, vibrant and brimming with as-yet-unfulfilled dreams, hopes and plans. We may be in our forties or fifties, but we are fifty years young, not fifty years old.

You: Part Two will help you combat ageism, extend your prime, build resilience and embrace change. It will introduce you to the concept of ‘radical acceptance’. It will help you find purpose and contentment. It discusses the menopause and the much paler male mid-life crisis. It explores aged care. It will help you work into your second half, change careers and start your own business.

It will help with financial planning, pensions and funding your second half. It will give you tips on investing including to take notice of fees, keep this simple, diversification and finding a financial adviser you trust. It explores where financial services has got it so wrong in the past: ignoring the customer and focusing instead on building assets under management, executive remuneration and shareholder returns. It also explores how the financial services industry is changing – beginning to put the customer at the heart of the business.

It will help you define and plan your Part Two. It introduces you to Ikigai, the ancient Japanese framework for finding your purpose. It will help you develop your Part Two plan.
